We are pleased to inform you that the Centre for Advanced Study in International Humanitarian Law (CASH) at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala, Punjab (www.rgnul.ac.in) is organizing a Training of the Trainers Programme (TOT) on International Criminal Law (ICL) primarily for the educators, advocates, social workers, human rights activists, distinguished postgraduate students (Ph.D., M. Phil., L.L.M, etc..) working in the fields of International Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Relations, Human Rights, Political Science and Social Work. The purpose of this Three Day Training Programme is to share the perspectives and to strengthen the capacity of the educators on the issues pertaining to the International Criminal Law.

This Programme will be held from 27 January 2012 – 29 January 2012 at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab situated at Patiala. The participants shall be selected on the basis of their credentials to participate in the aforesaid programme.

The programme will be conducted by the experts working on the issues relating to International Criminal Law. The participants would also receive an Information Kit for further reading and reference. A detailed schedule will be published on our website soon. (www.rgnul.ac.in).

The TOT, shall be conducted in the English language, will tentatively cover the following topics:

• Evolution and Development of ICL

• General Principles of the ICL

• Genocide, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity

• International Criminal Court

• Transitional Justice

• Addressing Needs of Special Groups - Children, Victims and Witnesses, and Women

• Enforcement of ICL through Domestic Legal Mechanisms

We take this opportunity to invite you to participate in the event and make this TOT a success. Selection of the candidates shall be made on the basis of qualifications and evaluation of the curriculum vitae. Travel assistance, boarding and lodging will be provided to the selected participants as per the university rules and regulations. The Registration fees is Rs. 1000 per participant which will be collected on the spot from selected participants. Registration fee includes Programme fees, Accommodation and food during these three days. Accomodation will be provided at the RGNUL Campus to all the participants.

Selected participants will be informed about their selection by 31st December, 2011 along with the programme brochure, detailed schedule.
