Who are we?
The Alternative (www.thealternative.in) is a media publication that aims to engage mainstream audience in conversations on social impact. It strives to make social good an extension of everyday life by highlighting issues, solutions, and tangible choices we can make to positively impact the world around us.
What are we looking for?
The true impact of creating relevant and engaging content is when it is finally in the hands of those who can act on it. In order to ensure that our content has maximum reach amidst the mainstream audience today, we are looking enthusiastic and passionate interns who could support us with our online content publishing and social media engagement. The Intern will be responsible for publishing content in such a way that it is optimized for SEO and adheres to our content guidelines; She / he will also be responsible for executing our social media strategy through channels such as Facebook and Twitter. The intern will monitor social and content analytics to provide actionable insights to the editorial team.

So, we are interested in Interns who are self-driven, willing to work in a highly dynamic work environment, thrive on conversations on topics ranging from social media to social development to films to music and believe in learning by doing and by engaging with others.
Professionally, the internship will most benefit
Students of Journalism, Media and Mass communication to get a first-hand experience of working with a contemporary digital media publication Those interested in Marketing and Branding to understand how the power of social media can be used to build communities, engage audiences and maximize reach of the product Those passionate about social causes and are looking for ways in which regular people can be encouraged to be part of social action.Required Skills
Excellent English writing/communication skills Comfortable with technology and working on online software – google apps, social media, Content Management systems for blogs etc. Have good computer and high speed internet access at home. Have an interest in contributing to social good.Nature of work
This is a part-time position and will require a commitment of least 12-14 hours a week (approximately two hours a day). While day to day coordination of the work will be through phone and email, the person should be willing to come to our office whenever needed.
Compensation
The Intern will be paid a competitive remuneration based on the number of hours contributed and the scope of work.
