Filmbooth is thrilled to announce launch of its latest avatar – “EIGHT”. Eight is an International Short Films Festival which is part of the “Stand Up & Make a Noise” Campaign being held in New Delhi in the third weekend of September 2010. The theme is the 8 Millenium Development Goals (MDG's) and we will screen a battery of spectacular short films on the subject. Moreover, as is Filmbooth's raison d'être, there will be a something for all its precious short film makers, friends, followers and other film enthusiasts as well. Included as part of this campaign, we are launching today an International Short Films Competition wherein we are inviting entries from everyone who wants to express his/her ideas on the subject of MDG's through the short films format. The idea is to elicit great ideas and thoughts manifesting in the form of exceptional short films on these solemn issues. The real test for the film maker will be to cut across constraints of time, resources and opinions – most importantly the conflicts, taboos and mental blocks that exist in the minds of the masses – and motivate the audience to make a difference.

Format of the Short Films
–Fiction, animation, live footage, imagery, narrative, or any radical style.

Duration of the Film
– Maximum 20 minutes

Deadline for Submission
– 31st August 2010

Jury Panel
– Comprises of Anurag Kashyap, Mike Pandey, Bhawana Somaya, Namrata Joshi, Vagish Jha and othersRecognition /Reward – Shortlisted films will be screened at the Festival in New Delhi alongside those made by the likes of Mira Nair, Gus Van Sant, Gael Garcia Bernal, Wim Wenders and others. Also, best films will win cool prizes in addition to acknowledgement certificates from the Stand Up Coalition Team.
