Eligibility
SMILE rural internships are only open for young people based in Delhi as it requires engagement with the process beyond the 4-6 week period.
SMILE (Students Mobilisation Initiative for Learning through Exposure) is a Rural Internship program for young people in the age group of 18 to 25 years organized by Pravah, A non profit organization . SMILE creates processes for young people to understand social realities through experiential learning methods, learn skills for social leadership and demonstrate active citizenship. SMILE facilitates youth volunteerism in urban and rural NGOs, addresses social issues through the youth clubs, and influences issues of social justice through youth citizenship action.
SMILE program aims at building youth leaders for social change.Pravah networks with diverse organizations who believe in the potential that young people have to create change to provide the youth with diverse learning and transformational experiences.Through the rural internship young people are sent to different grassroots organizations or movements where they interact with different communities and get a deeper understanding of the issues that confront the local people and organizations.
The internship process is broadly divided into 4 phases:
Orientation Camp – a 4 day rural camp that is designed to prepare the participants for their internships
Rural Internship – 4-6 week internship with a grassroots based organisation/movement
Feedback Camp – a 2 day residential camp held in Delhi post the internship period
Action Project Implementation – This is the space to translate internship learnings into action based
