The award was instituted as an annual award by India Habitat Centre in 2004.Given to a young voice that articulates and impacts on the mainstream of natural and societal consciousness for the creation of a natural environment where excellence prospers. Partnered with National Geographic Channel in 2006 - Leveraging synergies and combining resources to value add – encouraging youth to revisit their thoughts.
This award is a part of our conscious effort to initiate a process wherein young minds while engaged in the pursuit of academic excellence, need to dwell on the concerns of the country as a part of their perspective.
The winner will be entitled to a fully paid Summer Programme at Cambridge University, U.K. The first finalist gets an internship opportunity with National Geographic Channel while others get internship opportunities with established NGOs.Selected entries will be published in the IHC publication “Voices of the Young”.
