IIT Roorkee is organizing it's 3rd annual short film festival "16FRAMES" as a part of Thomso'09, cultural fest of IIT Roorkee, from 29th oct-1st nov 2009.It is a grand opportunity for all young filmmakers to display their mettle. Original movies will be pitted against one another.16 Frames will be a competition for short films to promote amateur film makers / animation movie makers to showcase their talent and creativity in the field of direction and aims to encourage creative and thought provoking films.Prizes will be awarded in following categories:- Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Direction, Best Experimental & Best of fest.Best Film of each category will win cash prize of 5000/- and merit certificates will be provided to all the finalists.The events include:
1. Pelicula Short Film Competition: The center event of 16 Frames is Pelicula Short Film Competition.In this competition, students will be challenged to create an original short film and also demonstrate excellence in filmmaking at all levels from concept art to polished editing.The best 16 entries will be shortlisted and will be screened in thomsoÂ’09.
2. Mobile Movie Making Competition : Interested young filmmakers are invited to showcase their talents by making a short film on a mobile phone.Your video must have been shot on a mobile phone and can be up to 5 minutes long.Interested participants should bring their own laptops for editing and joining videos.
3. Final Draft -Script Writing Competition: Participants will have to write a story on the theme and develop a script based on the theme.Use of reference materials or electronic media is prohibited.Best scripts will be selected by judges and will be awarded.
4. On The Spot Events: Theme will be given on the spot.Registration will be done on the spot.
