Eligibility
The conference is free and open to the general public. Anyone can attend from all ages and from all over the world.

The Global Youth Conference is presented by the Youth-to-Youth Community (Y2Y) of the World Bank. Y2Y is a community of young staff within the World Bank. Y2Y's mission is to mainstream youth issues within the World Bank and the broader development community and to engage with young people around the world through a participatory and demand driven approach.The conference aims to educate, engage and inspire. The panel discussions, case study, film screening and Youth Expo allow for interactive discussions on the current state of affairs, youth involvement and leadership opportunitites in a time of crises in the areas of Education, Employment and Civid Engagement. The conference will take place on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009, from 8:30am to 6pm at the Preston Auditorium in World Bank Headquarters, Washington, DC.Y2Y doesnot sponsor travel or accommodation of any one who chooses to attend the conference.

 

As part of this conference, an essay competition is also being conducted by the Y2Y community. The Y2Y Global Youth Conference 2009 Essay Competition invites youth to share ideas on: Youth Entrepreneurship in times of crisis. This is open to participants globally aged 18- 30 (winners will need to provide proof of age). Winner will receive a $1,000 laptop sponsored by LAC Development Marketplace and the opportunity to be published in a World Bank working paper. 2 runners-up will each receive a Y2Y bag and a copy of the film being showcased at the conference this year.The best three submissions will be published on the World Bank Y2Y website.
